Road investment will boost jobs and regional development in Mexico: Pedro Haces

May 7, 2026. The investment of over 7.6 billion pesos announced for highway infrastructure in 2026 aims to strengthen connectivity, reduce travel times, and boost economic development in various regions of the country. The project also seeks to generate direct and indirect jobs in sectors related to transportation, commerce, services, and logistics.

Federal Deputy Pedro Haces Barba stated that the project, promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum, represents a strategy to strengthen economic growth and expand job opportunities in Mexico. He indicated that highway modernization will improve productivity and facilitate regional development.

Infrastructure and Connectivity as an Economic Engine

The legislator pointed out that strengthening mobility and connectivity will be key for economic growth to reach more regions and benefit Mexican families.

“When a country invests in infrastructure, it doesn't just build roads; it builds development, jobs, and productivity.” He also maintained that infrastructure directly impacts the country's productive capacity by reducing travel times and improving conditions for various economic sectors.

Job Creation and Regional Development

Haces Barba emphasized that this type of investment can generate employment opportunities and strengthen regional economic activity through projects related to transportation and logistics.

"The job creation that can be triggered by these types of projects is enormous. Infrastructure also means well-being for thousands of Mexican families."

He added that sustainable growth requires coordination between the government, workers, and productive sectors to consolidate long-term development conditions.

"There is no growth without infrastructure, but neither is there growth without a skilled workforce and conditions that allow development to reach everyone."

Finally, the legislator considered that this type of investment reflects a vision oriented toward building a more connected and competitive country.

"Mexico has everything it needs to grow. The important thing is to continue building the conditions so that this growth translates into real well-being for workers."
